"This summer I set out to learn the way of the Samuari. My research led me to Miyamoto Musashi's Book of five rings. This legendary warrior won every battle he faced in life. He had mastered the sword and spent his final days in a cave recording his methods.

This drawing is inspired by his second book. The book of water which teaches the warrior to be flexible and aware of ones environment. "

"After a short break from my Expeditions, I returned to the local makerspace to try my hand at MIG welding.

Following a brief safety instructions that included all the creative ways one might perish via electricity, I jumped into laying down beads using techniques like stacking the dimes, cursive E’s, and crescent moons.

To my surprise, fusing metal felt a lot like drawing except for few more sparks and the smell of molten steel. 🔥✍️

Hoping to use this skill to make future art lawn art. For now, I’m just proud of picking up something new and getting my hands dirty."

Observing these magnificent creatures up close, I realized I had no idea where thier eyes were! Further investigation led me to conclude that thier eyes are black and not white as I had suspected. Nature always finds a way to surprise me."

"With spring around the corner, I am itching to travel to some of Utah's national parks again. Last year we went to Arches National Park. While I didn't do any sketching of that trip I have always wanted to do a travel style sketch.

This was my first attempt to use water colors in this style. I am quite happy with it. Perhaps this year I will attempt to do some sketches on site at Bryce Canyon."

"My next sketch is dedicated to my love of puzzles ciphers, escape rooms, lock picking, and weird devices. The cryptex is one such a device. Comprised of six interlocking letter rings it's the perfect vessel for holding hidden wisdom, maps to lost civilizations, or even a secret cookie reciepe.

Fun fact Da Vinci didn't actually invent the cryptex. It was made up by Dan Brown for the Da Vinci code then later turned into reality by fans of the movie".

Took a 3d modeling class online from an aerospace engineer who makes nukes for a living. While not a nuke or a b52 bomber wing, I am proud of this little pencil box.

Took a intro to electronics class at the local maker space downtown. I soldered together a radio and it actually worked the first time!!

It's been a long time since I was on Instagram. Life got busy after college. Making art became harder to do as we added more kids to our family.
